Players Dues and Team Selection
All players are welcome to come play – whether you have years of experience or have never played rugby. Practices are held at Mills Pond Park, Fort Lauderdale.
New players should join the FTLRugby Facebook page. Note that this group is also open to friends and club supporters.
Note that there is a second Facebook group that is for players and coaches only.
To be eligible to play in any game all players must:
- Be CIPP Registered with USA Rugby.
- Pay Club Dues.
- CIPP Register with USA Rugby
All players must be a registered CIPP member with USA Rugby. USA Rugby covers the insurance/legal/liability aspects of playing a rugby game. To register head over to the link below and follow the instructions.
Fort Lauderdale members are split into two categories:
- Mens Team Rugby
- Social / Oldboy Members
An Active Men’s Club Member is a playing member (including club officers) of the club. The playing members should have their dues paid in full or worked have worked out a payment schedule before playing their first match.
Social members contribute to the well-being of the club, will be included in all club social events, and are welcome to participate in any other club activities. Their contribution of $100 per year is the kind of support that helps the club greatly.
Dues are paid for a calendar year and covers the Fall, Spring (Division Play), and Summer Sevens.
Team selection will be made by a Selection Committee comprising of the following people:
- Head Coach
- Assistant Coach
- Team Captain
The Head Coach is the Chair and has the final say. Team selection is based on a number of factors, which are listed below for your guidance.
- Membership payments up to date
- Attendance at training
- Application at training
- Skill level
- Understanding of the game plan
- Game day performance
- Contribution to the club
- Disciplinary Policy
