To all my Ruggers and Ruggeretts,
What a great day for Rugby. The weather was perfect and Boca showed up with 2 full competitive sides. our first team started off with David, Marcos, and Coston in front row, followed by Kyle and Alex second row, Jeff and Brandon flankers and Josh at 8 man. FTL pack dominated all of our scrumdowns as well as winning 60 plus % of their scrumdowns. We did very well in the lineouts as we won 75% of our lineouts and about 30% of their lineouts. Our tackeling and rucking was good but still needs work. We had a very fast and young backline starting off with Robin 9, Daniel 10, junior 12, matt 13, Treasure 14, patrick 11 and sib 15. Our backline showed a tremendous amount of speed in which Boca could not match.
The subs that we had coming in which was Vince, Craig, Diego and Andrew for the forwards and fresh for the backs made a big difference for the second half of the game. Even though the score said 36 to 22 it seemed like a close game on paper but by far we dominated the whole game which should have been 60 something to 0. The only thing that kept Boca in the game was the 27 penalties that we made because of our over aggressive and gang buster style of rugby out on the field.
On that note, we have the Tridents this Saturday October 4th in Miami. they have 2 full sides and strong they are already talking shit about how we can’t never beat them. you have a lot of work to do this week. We need to travel with 35 strong to Miami. right now our first side and second side are already in first place for the florida cup. which i like to keep it that way.
Next Rocco and I are selecting 7 to 8 players from the FTL squad to play for the Florida south select side agienst the Brazilian international side. The team will be flying in on 10/3/08. practice will be on 10/5/08 and the game will be played 10/8/08 at night at Mills pond park.
The selection will be based on of attendance, fitness, commitment, and skills. the 8 players will be announced Thursday night after practice.
Congratulations to the FTL second side which started off ernie, frank and joe front row, horace and alex second row, lou and brandon flankers, bebe at 8 man, josh 9, sib 10, louis 11, fresh 12, malcom 13, nate 14, and mac 15.
Great game, hard fought, the final score of the game was 28 to 16.
Congratulations to all of FTL mens rugby club for a great victory over Boca.
We still have a lot of work to do to prepare for the Tridents this weekend. see everybody at practice tomorrow night. make sure you bring water and a jersey because we will be scrimmaging tomorrow night. Thank you have a great day!
