Division 1 starting side against naples

2009 February 11
by martin

Below are the starting line ups for Saturday. I want you to know the coaching staff and myself had some long discussions about selection, looking to field a winning DI team in a crucial game.

We were 3-0 following the Xmas break and have slid to 3-3 since, key to this has been the loss of our #10 T, as well as some plain old bad luck, not getting the bounce of the ball and all that.

We have picked a team to WIN, based upon player commitment, training, performance but also key positional requirements. We welcome Len to the club a gifted kiwi (that hurt typing that) #10 who has committed to play for us for the balance of the season.

We are also fortunate to have the depth at certain positions to be able to rest a couple of players this week who have niggling injuries ahead of Tridents and the play offs.

Coston, Daniel, Erik, Vince, Amil heal up and get fit, your water boys for Saturdays game.

But, don’t think about play offs or who we play or any of that. We have two simple tasks, Beat NAPLES in our back yard and then Beat Tridents at their home field.

Let’s pick it up and finish #1.

Knights Fall and Spring Season

2008 December 26
by Coach Boz

To all my ruggers and ruggeretts hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, I want to recap fall season going into the Florida Cup which we went undefeated, beating Naples in the semi-finals. Met Daytona in finals which was a hard fought game, 4 minutes left in the game Ft. Lauderdale was up in the game 10 - 3, we pretty much had it wrapped up then a Ft. Lauderdale player got sent to the sin bin. Which Daytona capitalized on and tied the game up to 10-10, which took us in to overtime still with a man down, Daytona scored again made it 15-10 with an extra kick for 17-10. Ft. Lauderdale fought back and scored with 30 seconds left in the game made it 17-15 missed our extra points to tie the game. Even though we lost it was a great game to watch players from both teams played a great game.

We started our spring season division 1 league on Nov 15 by beating Boca 30 to 20, on Nov 22 we beat Miami 32-16 and our last came to close out the year we beat Miami at home 29 to 0. In that game Treasure scored 3 tri’s T scored 1 tri and Tuli scored 1 tri, Robin scored 2 out of 5 conversion kicks Ft. Lauderdale defense was phenomenal, Ft. Lauderdale defiantly took it to the next level.

Now that the holidays are about over our next practice will be Saturday Jan. 3 @ 10 AM. Which is mandatory for all player to be there, no exceptions! Rocco and I will determine our division 1, 22 man team and our division 2, 22 man team, these teams will be set in stone for the remaining spring season. In order to stay on the division 1 team there will be stipulations that will be handed out at the practice. You can go on FTL Rugby and look at the division 1 and 3 schedule for the spring season.

Hope everyone has a HAPPY NEW YEAR and see you at practice.
